| I lived at Nob Hill at 182 Gay Street in what's known as Manyunk (Philadelphia) for nearly a year.Being the very first tenant in this newluxuryone bedroom apartment, I was very excited. However, that excitement diminished quickly as the Philadelphia rains poured in literally. About five months after moving in, I began experiencing significant flooding in my living room every time it rained heavily.Repeated phone calls to the management company, as well as the emergency maintenance hotline yielded ZERO results.Several months (and countless floods and phone calls later), I finally offered written notification that I was withholding my rent and going to leave if the problem was not fixedafter all, I was paying a high premium (to the tune of $960 per month) to live in myluxuryapartment. I finally received a response in the form of some spackle on my ceiling.Needless to say, my living room flooded again with the very next heavy rain that came almost a week after theyfixedmy leak. This time, it ruined my couch, rugs, and pictures. I also discovered after talking with all of my neighbors in my building that EVERYONE was experiencing the same issues I wasterrible flooding and no action from the landlord. It was clearly time to leave. I notified the Neducsin Management Company by letter of my intent to vacate.I packed up my belongings and moved out (and back home with my family) about two months before my lease was due to expire. When I moved out, my rent was paid to date. However, I received an invoice from the management company for the remaining two months rent in my lease.I honestly thought it was a joke.Without getting into the details, anyone who knows anything about real estate knows that they are not entitled to this money, especially given the circumstances of my leaving. The actions of this company are borderline criminal. Not only do they charge a premium for shoddily built apartments (if you see them, youll quickly notice the corners that were cut), they refuse to acknowledge tenant issues that virtually render their apartments unfit for human habitation.I cant even imagine what might me growing under the floorboards and in the ceilings (mold??).As such, I am taking every legal action that is available to me to recover my damages (security deposit, rent, etc.). I strongly urge you to think twice before entering into a lease agreement with this company for ANY of their properties.Take the lease that they want you to a real estate attorney, and they will tell you that it is INSANEyou are basically signing away your first born child. Best of luck, and dont say you werent warned! |
