Apartment Review for 1500 Locust - Philadelphia, PA

Overall, this place is horrible and I would never recommend it to anyone. There is only one strong positive, the front desk staff. The negatives are much more apparent. Everything written about the constant construction is true, and there is no end in site. People do enter your apartment without permission, and without significant warning. The fire alarms are annoying and a constant nuisance, waking people up at all hours. The apartment is relatively overpriced for the location. You can find similarly priced apartments that are much newer. My biggest complaint is with the management. I agree with previous reviews that they are very friendly before you sign the lease. However, I would equate them with a typical "bait and switch" con operation once they have your money. For example, they charged almost six hund dol for repairs to the fire alarm system in the apartment. There were no actual damages, however, and the bill could never really be explained. The company they used could not provide accountability for their time, and a reason for the charges. My suspicion is that they overbilled everyone in the apartment, to the tune of several thousand dollars. Unfotunately, if you do have an issue like this. You are told that the the bill will be "subtracted from your security deposit". There is no recourse or accountability. The management will not respond to you via email, and make you feel extremely uncomfortable. Also, I am an extremely clean person. I never cook, and have a cleaning woman come 2/month. And, there are roaches ad rats in the building. I really can't wait to move out!
